Seeking Salvation — RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Seeking Salvation is the shortest kind of quest and still the one people abandon, because the four dragonkin statues stand in places that need a spell or a staircase to reach. This page covers the start point, each statue with the tool it needs, the exact spot inside the Skekven Kara vault where the objective resolves, and what the reward is actually good for afterwards.

Quick answer

How do I complete Seeking Salvation?

Talk to Doric in the cave east of the Lake of Lost Souls, then activate the four dragonkin statues around the ruin — one outside the cave mouth, two around the pillar near Doric and one behind a cracked wall to the north-west. With all four lit, the vault opens. Inside, climb to the second highest level of the central staircase and use Windstep to reach the opening in the south wall, then interact with the dragonkin statue there and return to Doric.

  • It is a secondary quest and needs partial completion of Withering Heights, because that is what grants access to Fellhollow in the first place.
  • The wiki lists 5 air runes for Windstep, a steel pickaxe and a torch or the Fire Spirit spell as required items.
  • The reward is a salve crystal, permanent access to buy more from Death’s Exchange at 25 soul fragments each, and the recipe for the salve amulet.

Candle-lit ruins are the backdrop to the whole quest: a cave shrine, four statues, and a vault interior lit by burners rather than daylight.

What Seeking Salvation is, and what it needs

A side quest with a hard gate in front of it.

Seeking Salvation released with update 0.10 on 15 December 2025, the same update that added Fellhollow. The official patch notes for that update record new vaults being added to the map within the region, and this quest is the one attached to the Skekven Kara vault. The wiki classes it as a secondary quest, which is the useful detail: it does not sit in the main storyline and nothing in the main route requires it, so it can be done whenever the region is open.

That region is the gate. The wiki lists partial completion of Withering Heights as the requirement, and gives the reason in the same line — it is what grants access to Fellhollow. If you have not started the main quest for the region yet, the Withering Heights page is the one that comes first, and the Fellhollow page covers the area you will be working in.

Two vaults with similar names

This quest’s vault is Skekven Kara. The Withering Heights quest sends you to a different one, Vekchenven Kara, under a waterfall in the same broad area of the region. They are separate dungeons, and the wiki names track the same dragonkin style, so it is worth reading which one a step is talking about before you travel.

Finding Doric at the Lake of Lost Souls

The cave is easy to walk past, so the approach is worth describing before the statues.

The wiki places the start point as Doric, east of the Lake of Lost Souls, inside a cave ruin. The video guide describes the approach from the road rather than from the map: you want the fork in the road at the Lake of Lost Souls, then you travel up and around into the cave to reach the vault entrance. That is the route logic — the cave is entered from above and behind rather than straight off the lakeside path.

Once inside you will find Doric with a tent set up, and talking to him starts the quest. He explains the situation in the same terms the wiki uses: the vault door is sealed by magic, and the way through it is to find and activate four dragonkin statues. The quest has no items to hand over at this stage, so accepting it costs nothing.

Bring light before you need it

Two of the statue steps happen in dark corners of the ruin, and the wiki lists a torch or the Fire Spirit spell among the required items for exactly that reason. The video guide runs the whole quest without commenting on visibility, which fits — if you arrive with a light source you will never notice the problem.

The four dragonkin statues

Each one has a different obstacle in front of it, and two of them need Windstep or a build.

The wiki describes the statues by position relative to Doric, which is the only frame of reference that survives a map update: one is outside the cave, and three are in the ruin around him. Two of the three need Windstep or player-built foundations and stairs to reach, which is what the required-items list is for — 5 air runes covers the spell route if you would rather not carry materials.

StatueWhere it isHow to reach it
1Outside the cave entrance, before you go inNo obstacle; activate it on the way past
2South-west of Doric, behind the giant pillarDark — bring out a torch if you cannot see the statue
3On top of the pillar, directly west of DoricWindstep, or build foundations and stairs to climb
4North-west of Doric, past some rotWindstep or built stairs, then a cracked wall to break

Positions and obstacles as described on the Dragonwilds wiki. The video guide visits them in a different order and finds the walled statue via a crumbled wall it opens with a rock explosion rather than a pickaxe — see the note below.

The video guide walks the same four statues in a different sequence: it starts behind Doric’s tent where a crumbled wall has to be opened, then does a short Windstep sequence — jumping up, then across — to reach a statue on high ground, then steps back down to a third, and finishes with the one outside the cave. Its count matches the wiki, so the two descriptions are compatible; what differs is the order and the tool used on the wall.

Pickaxe or rock explosion?

The wiki lists a steel pickaxe as a required item and says the cracked wall needs one to break. The video guide instead opens its crumbled wall with a rock explosion. Both are recorded here rather than merged. If your pickaxe does nothing at the wall, the video’s method is the fallback worth trying, and carrying both covers you.

The confirmation that all four are done is visual and immediate: the video guide points out that with every statue activated you should have all four of your burners lit at the vault entrance, and only then can you go in.

Inside the Skekven Kara vault

One room, one staircase, one Windstep — and one detail that decides whether the objective resolves.

Enemies are the first thing to plan for. The wiki advises bringing plenty of cooked food and drinks — clean water or infusions — because the vault holds multiple enemies, and it lists skeletons, dragon wolves, a vault archon, a vault guardian hulk and a vault overlord among them. The video guide meets skeletons on the bottom floor immediately and does not fight them at all: it runs straight past and keeps going, which is a reasonable default for a quest that resolves through one interaction.

The objective itself is specific about height, which is the part worth reading twice. The wiki instructs you to take the central staircase in the entry room and, at the second highest level of the stairs, look for an opening in the wall south of the staircase that is reached with Windstep. Inside that cavern you interact with the dragonkin statue to learn the secrets, which Doric then translates. The video guide describes the same manoeuvre as windstepping up to the statue and interacting with it, then windstepping back down and out — the same instruction without the storey count.

  1. Enter the Skekven Kara vault once all four burners are lit.
  2. Run past the skeletons on the bottom floor rather than clearing them.
  3. Take the central staircase and stop at the second highest level.
  4. Windstep through the opening in the south wall to reach the statue cavern.
  5. Interact with the dragonkin statue, then Windstep back down and leave.
  6. Return to Doric to finish the quest.

Rewards: the salve crystal and what it unlocks

The item is small; the permanent unlock behind it is the reason to run the quest.

The wiki lists three rewards, and the second one is the one that matters later. You receive 1 salve crystal, you unlock the permanent option to buy more crystals from Death’s Exchange for 25 soul fragments each, and you gain the recipe to craft a salve amulet. The crystal is therefore not a one-off trophy — it is the key that opens a repeatable purchase, which is what makes the quest worth doing even if you have no immediate use for the amulet.

Permanent
Salve crystals become purchasable from Death’s Exchange at 25 soul fragments each
Recipe

The soul fragment cost is worth weighing against how you earn them. Death’s Exchange is the same vendor introduced during the Fellhollow storyline, spending the currency you accumulate in the region, so a crystal purchase is competing with whatever else you were saving for. Working out whether the salve amulet fits your build is the armour guide end of the question rather than this page’s, and the wider route through the region sits on the walkthrough page.

It unlocks a second quest

The wiki files Doric’s Quest under Required to Complete, meaning Seeking Salvation is a prerequisite for it. Neither source cached for this page describes what Doric’s Quest involves, so this page does not speculate about it beyond the dependency itself.

How this page was verified

Written on 16 September 2026 from the cached Seeking Salvation article on the Dragonwilds wiki, revision 65763, retrieved the same day; a 255-second quest guide published by RS AFKing on 19 December 2025, four days after the quest released, with auto-generated captions; and the official Eye on Ashenfall 0.10 post for the update that added the region’s vaults. No playthrough was performed for this page and no statue was activated or vault entered in-game, so the statue positions, the staircase landmark and the reward list are reproduced as the sources describe them rather than confirmed by observation. Neither the wiki nor the video was updated for the 1.0 launch on 15 September 2026, so whether 1.0 moved any of the landmarks described here is unknown.

Still open

  • The wiki says the cracked wall needs a pickaxe, which it also lists as a required item, while the video guide opens a crumbled wall with a rock explosion. Whether these are two different walls, or one wall with two valid solutions, is not established by either source.
  • The wiki and the video visit the four statues in different orders and describe them with different landmarks — a giant pillar against Doric’s tent. The count agrees at four, but the mapping between the two sets of descriptions was not confirmed in-game.
  • The wiki places statues by compass direction from Doric, and Doric’s own facing is not given, so “directly west of Doric” and the video’s “up here” could describe the same statue or different ones.
  • The reward table lists the salve crystal, the Death’s Exchange unlock and the salve amulet recipe, but the amulet’s stats and whether it is worth a build slot were not covered by any source cached for this page, so nothing is claimed about them here.
  • Doric’s Quest is recorded as requiring Seeking Salvation, but none of the evidence collected for this page describes that quest’s content, timing or requirements.
  • The video guide was published in December 2025 and the wiki revision predates 1.0, so route changes or moved map markers introduced between 0.10 and the 1.0 launch on 15 September 2026 would not appear in either.
  • The wiki article carries no reader comments, so no community correction to the steps above was available to weigh against the article text.
